Consider for a moment that what you have been told by the television may not be true. If you consider yourself to be a Right-winger, then you've been told that Leftists are destroying America. If you are a Liberal, then you have been told the Right-wing Capitalists are destroying America. It's not the Democrats that are destroying America. It's not the Republicans that are destroying America. It's BOTH.

It's a one-two combination punch from the Left and the Right.

Just as the Left is wrong about allowing a flood of third world immigrants into this country, the Right is wrong about free-market corporate capitalism.

Until we all start to look at the big picture and look beyond political parties and political ideologies, then nothing is going to change.

You should be so lucky.

What do you see when you look at this video? Just old people listening to hokey, embarassing polka music?

I see a group of people that are still in touch with their heritage. They have a place they can go and listen to music they like, and they are around people that like and accept them for who they are. They are not surrounded by youth in droopy pants, and their ears are not assaulted by Rhianna, Gaga, and other pop culture garbage. You will be damn lucky to find a place with such comaraderie when you are that age.

I think of Jazz as the "thinking man's music". It's the best music to have evolved out of African-American culture. It's not as depressing and emotional as the blues, and it's not socially degenerative like rap and hip-hop.

Free Tibet! But who is going to free me?

There is near universal agreement in the Western world that the people of Tibet have the right to defend their culture, language, and religion against the Chinese. Does the right to defend culture and language apply to all other groups of people in the world, or is it a right that applies only in selected situations? If you agree that it is a right that all people have, then why am I labeled a racist for believing that it applies to myself and my folk?

A few lost by the wayside

I deleted a few people from my Facebook friends list today. Those people didn't do anything wrong, it's just that I want to keep my friends list more 'heathen-centric'.

Over the past year, all of you Heathen men (and women) have been a postive influence on me and I want to continue being grounded and focused on ideas and actions that benefit my family, my folk, and my self.

No man is an island. We all influence each other is some small way. Yes, I know that we Heathens like to think of ourselves as individualistic, and to a certain extent we are when compared to mainstream society. But lets not forget how the Internet connects us and gives us the chance to meet, influence, and support each other.
